Star Parker says “Same Sex Marriage is War on Religion”

“Same-sex marriage is war on religion,” says STAR PARKER.

Here is Star Parker’s commentary:

Supreme Court ruling is the latest in a long process of the unraveling of American culture driven by pride — the sense that we answer to no higher authority.

The Book of Proverbs, part of biblical canon, once a vital part of American culture, tells us: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

It’s this haughty spirit, this pride that precedes destruction, that lies behind the Supreme Court’s decision last week to bury the Defense of Marriage Act.

DOMA defined marriage, for purposes of federal law, as traditional marriage — the union of man and woman.

This decision did not come out of nowhere. It did not happen in a vacuum. It is but the latest in a long process of the unraveling of American culture driven by pride — the sense that we answer to no higher authority. That the two-legged animal man is master of the universe and decides, invents right and wrong, true and false.

There have been many stops on the way to this Supreme Court decision relegating marriage, as we have known and understood it for millennia, to a casual fiction that could come out of Hollywood.

One stop we might note was the Supreme Court’s decision in 1980, Stone v. Graham, that said that posting the Ten Commandments in a public school is unconstitutional.

A free society must start with a foundation of rules. If our biblical tradition is not the source of these rules, what rules do define how we live and where do these rules come from?

The preamble of our Constitution tells us that its purpose is to secure the “blessings of liberty.”

What is a blessing? The first definition in my Webster’s New World Dictionary says that a blessing is “a statement of divine favor.”

How can we secure divine favor in a nation for which the divine is unconstitutional? A prideful nation by definition must be a nation that rejects the idea of a blessing.

In the pride that precedes destruction in America of 2013, we reject that there are truths that don’t come out of a laboratory. We reject that that there are truths that parents get from their parents and pass on to their children.

We reject that there are truths that, when children learn them from their parents, and embrace them and become responsible for them, they become adults.

So now we live in society in which there is nothing that distinguishes a child from an adult, that distinguishes responsible from irresponsible.

Who suffers the most?

First and foremost, children. Because they are deprived from learning and taking seriously the very rules of life’s road that are critical to live successfully.

Even more so, children from minority families.

Sixty seven percent of black children are raised in single parent households. The collapse of black family life reflects this very welfare-state materialism, bestowed to blacks by elitist white liberals, that defines the culture that now rejects the sanctity of traditional marriage.

Can there be any doubt that the grandparents and great-grandparents of the five Supreme Court justices who just voted to delegitimize the sanctity of traditional marriage in America would be appalled by the decisions of their offspring?

Can there be any doubt that if the ancestors of these same Supreme Court justices had the values that their offspring are selling today, that that these judges would most likely not be who they are and sitting where they sit?

America is a free country. You can do what you want in private.

But when values of meaninglessness become sanctioned as part of our public and official culture we should know that this is the “pride” that “goes before destruction.”

Let there be no doubt that same-sex marriage is about much more than marriage. It is a deliberate and conscious assault on religion and all traditional values.

We have only two options. Turn back to where we belong or watch the continuing collapse of our country.

I wonder if the people who are coming up with these laws understand that it hurts the fabric of our society. If we no longer have values and eveything changes every time the wind blows a different way. what will become of us? Why do people not understand that young children and adults see everything so mixed up and nothing is defined? Like the child who finally asks her parents, why don’t you have any rules for me? Do you care about me? Has the judicial and legislative system forgot why we have laws? In my Business Law 101 class, it always came down to the COMMON GOOD. It seems like those who want to flaunt moral truths are getting their way. Our country is following a socialist/communist/fascist country where immorality will rein and with that chaos, and before we know it God-fearing people will have no rights. We are a Christian nation. Our Forefathers said that in order for this gov’t to work we must have a moral and religious people. The Declaration of Indepence said we get our unalienable rights from our Creator. Creator means that there is someone in control that is all powerful. Too bad we outlawed Him in all public places He USED TO BE!

I agree 100% with this article. You can’t discipline your child anymore, it’s considered abuse. So children don’t learn that there are consequences to bad behavior. Just like rewards come from good behavior, bad behavior has its’ own ‘rewards’, too. That’s why, when they get into the ‘real’ world, & the world either
ignores, or rejects, them, they go crazy & start killing others. Our ONLY chance is to turn back to God, & call on Him to take control of things.

Star is 100% right liberals want to destroy GOD and America ,,,,Killing marriage is where they are starting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Their ancestors probably would have been disappointed by the supreme court’s decision. But those same ancestors also voted against black rights, which is much more detrimental to black culture. The point of a society is to grow and learn. Jesus preached tolerance, even if you don’t like it.

As a person who has seen “racism” in it’s raw/ugliest form as a child in South GA during the 60’s, I find it quite upsetting that every time people in our society compare my people’s struggles over the past 100 plus years as black Americans to the behavior of men/women wanting to engage in a behavior of their choosing a slap in the face of every black person, hanged, burned or butchered like an animal because of our skin color. As a black human male, I could marry a woman of any race and produce children. That is a fact and a plan that God Himself put in place. If I walked into a club or bar in the South during the 60s/70s that displayed a Rebel flag, I would have been instantly accosted or killed. If a white homosexual did the same, he would not receive a second glance unless he started spouting off about his sexual desires.

This comparison is the classic “apples to oranges” comparison.
Yes, I am fully aware of “some” of our founders being slave owners, but that does not negate the fact that slavery as an institution in America was destroyed and our country has moved light years ahead of many nations in destroying the remnants of that curse.

And no, Jesus did not preach “tolerance”. He preached “repentance” and seeking forgiveness for our sins. He indeed loves everyone, but He does not tolerate nor will He condone “sin”. By your logic, every sin a person commits is fine with Jesus since He “preached” tolerance, which He did not. I do not profess perfection ( I too am a sinner), only Jesus is Perfect and so is His Word.

Some day I will meet Him face to face to account for my actions on this earth, and so will you. I gave my life to Him many years ago and it has not been an easy task especially being Black in a society that looks and measures a man by his skin color (more so today than at any other time in our history).

I know my opinion goes against the wave of “progressive thought” of today, but I stand with Christians around the world who will ultimately pay with our lives for doing so. I only pray that you will awaken to the evil that permeates our society today. Eternity is a long time and separation from God for all eternity is a fate I’d rather not imagine.

As a black human woman, I can clearly see the similarities in our situations. If you do not believe that homosexuals are being beaten, sometimes to death, without having to say a word, then you have not been paying attention. As a person in this society that has had to struggle for her fair share, I proudly support all my brothers and sisters that are willing to fight for what’s right.

        As for tolerance..
Acts 10:28 And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.

She’s absolutely right. Nothing more to say.

  • cae973

personally I raised my children to know the difference between good and know the difference between normal and perverted and to know that there is a God we will one day answer to for our actions or lack of actions. So because homosexuality is a sin my children were taught it is depraved sinful behavior and the supreme court cannot rule otherwise!

So you are teaching your children hatred. GOD BLESS YOU.

I see it as a matter of religious freedom: are we to continue to disallow some religious groups (Quakers for example) from conducting SSM just because other religious groups don’t like it?

The Supremes are now an illigitimate court. They are no longer protecting the Constitution. They are shilling for the lib-progs. Time for the state governments to do like the president purports to be doing and to stop enforcing unconstitutional laws.

When you hypocrites outlaw divorce between man and women, the you can whine about the unravelling of the fabric of our nation. That whackado Victoria Jackson was divorced. Destroying families and inviting gods wrath. Hypocrites, all of you!

    • Michael K Jackson

Exactly.Christians divorce all the time, and that is the unraveling of our culture. We are all free to hold to our marriage vows, teach and protect our offspring in the 2 parent households that produced them. For example in the black culture we do not abort. It doesn’t matter what the law says is OK,even if the girl is 11 years old our extended family will rally to help raise that child. We still have the choice about what to believe, practice, and to teach our children. What others’ choose to do is of no personal consequence.

  • HongryHawg

This is not news. That is the whole point of the push for same-sex marriage, homosexuality instruction, and the perversion training of American adolescents. Without religion to coalesce society, the perverts will gain a foothold. It’s the old “divide and conquer” mentality that reaches back to the beginning of civilization.

I hope and pray that all you one day do see your errors in the way you believed and what you have been taught by man. GOD and Jesus were about nothing else but LOVE. Love of man and woman, children and old, Gay straight, black, white, green orange , blue and purple. GOD and Jesus even love the sinner. The one thing they both hate is hatred and non forgiveness. So all you holier than thou and think your right people really better look in the mirror and get right with the creator.

  • Michael K Jackson

War on religion is almost a good idea!.I hate religion, and so does God.You will find,if you read your bible, that the religious people of the day, just like today are actually in conflict with God and His plan and purpose.God loves us and wants what’s best for us,to dwell in us so He can enlighten and empower us to do His will.Religious folks want to condemn folks, and Lord it over them.God doesn’t hate people,he hates religion and sin (cancer of character). What He wants is an individual relationship with each and every one of the people He created, and the people who are truly His will be busy in that relationship working toward that same objective.

You’re all aware that Mrs. Parker is divorced? Her husband remarried but passed away in 2006.
