My New Book: “Lavender Hair” – my breast cancer journey

My new book, “Lavender Hair,” is similar to the late great Christopher Hitchens book, “Mortality,” in that we wish we would have lived healthier lifestyles, cancer is boring, pain pills are fabulous, and death feels closer when you’re on a chemo drip. We disagree on whether or not there is a God waiting to meet us face to face when we die. Hitchens believes there is no God. I believe there is a God who cares, loves us individually, and […]

My Daughter’s First Published Book! – “The Weekly Prayer Project” !

I’m so proud of my daughter Scarlet whose first book is being published and available July 4! And, it’s a book about God! How awesome! It was brought to the attention of Harper Collins by a beautiful woman named Katie, that a Pasadena-born, NY/Miami-raised, Tennessee stay-at-home mom, who was named after a color in the Bible, Scarlet, and after the romantic lead in Gone With the Wind, was writing a blog – link here. Harper Collins then assigned Scarlet Hiltibidal […]

    Just Discovered Jason Upton!

Thanks to my friend Chana Keefer, author of Annabelle (get it on here) I now know who Jason Upton is. I love the story about this recording of the song “Fly.” The song deeply touches my soul. Jason’s testimony is a must-see. Story of this recording as posted on Youtube: “Jason Upton and his band were engaged in concert/worship at a college auditorium in Alexandria, Louisiana, when a God incidence miraculously happen while Jason was totally consumed by the […]

    Students Sing to Cancer-Stricken Teacher

This beautiful story is about friends of ours in Tennessee. God is bigger than cancer and bigger than this world. Jesus brings hope for our future, even after death. “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day […]

    Song Writing Camp!

I highly recommend Justin Peter’s (Songsfortheplanet.com) Songwriting Camp! It was my first time and I loved it! I usually write alone. We came up with over 25 songs. We were at a beach house in Wilmington, NC. Most of us were strangers but now best friends for life.

    Last Cancer Treatment Today!

A BIG Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and technicians whose loving care, kindness and beautiful faces and hearts I’ll never forget! I asked the sweetheart technicians if I could take a photo with them. As I was leaving, Vicki the awesome nurse handed me my Certification of Completion of Radiation. I started to cry. She said, “You deserve to cry, you’ve been through a lot. Some people even have their friends and family with balloons in the lobby […]

  • Eric Metaxas: “Whatever happened to “Virtue”?”

Eric Metaxas: “Whatever happened to “Virtue”?”

Eric Metaxas, author of “Bonhoeffer” and a new book, “If You Can Keep It,” is urging Christians to get involved – or they will lose their freedom, they will lose their country…the name “America” may stay, but there will be nothing inside. He said America is not an ethnic group but an idea – “self-government.” It had never been done before in history, not even the Greeks (Eric is Greek)… who had little city-states. Eric said that all of our […]

Suffering in the Middle of the Night

My friends the Keefers told me to watch this video series. I started watching at Number 1, a month ago. Their friend, Professor Dr. Kent Robbins and his wife Sarah were dealing with his recently diagnosed terminal brain disease. (“White Matter Disease”) Since I dealt with breast cancer this year, (presently I have no cancer – I’m praying it never returns), I find comfort in knowing I am not alone in getting a shocking diagnosis. I feel like I know […]

Finished Chemo Today! Start Movie Tomorrow!

Today, May 9, 2016 – finished the prescribed chemotherapy for breast cancer treatments – Jan. 2016 to May 2016 – 4 rounds of Red Devil and other one (I always forget the name) that knocked me down, then 12 rounds of Taxol which wasn’t too bad…I can’t wait until my hair grows back. Very excited to be starting a new movie role tomorrow in my month off before six weeks of radiation begins. The movie is “Andy’s Rainbow” and I […]

New Original Song: “It’s a Broken World, Baby!” on Rusty Humphries Show

I was briefly on the Rusty Humphries radio show April 7 and he asked me about my cancer. I said it wasn’t so bad. Then, he asked me if I was really happy or just faking it. What a great opportunity I had to share the good news of Jesus Christ…and I blew it! I said something stupid about wearing pink wigs. In my defense, my 87 year old Dad had just been taken to the E.R. in an ambulance […]
